Crackle quartz is a special variety of clear rock crystal quartz. This quartz is brought to high temperatures and then immediately submerged in cold water. The resulting temperature shock causes small fractures to form inside the quartz. These cracks can occasionally refract light that passes through them into small rainbows.

My favorite type of clear quartz
