Quartz is one of the most common minerals found in the Earth's crust, and takes on a variety of colors depending on the other minerals and trace elements that are included as it forms and grows. Blue quartz takes its color from inclusions of either crocidolite, a fibrous mineral similar to asbestos, or tourmaline.
