Kambaba jasper is not a true jasper, and is instead a variety of porphyritic rhyolite, a volcanic rock that contains larger inclusions in a fine-grained stone. The bulk of kambaba jasper is green, consisting of aegirine and albite with small inclusions of potassium-based feldspar, and the round black inclusions are riebeckite. Due to its resemblance to the animal skin, kambaba jasper is sometimes also called crocodile jasper.
