Named after the Shattuck Mine in Arizona where it was first discovered, shattuckite is a somewhat rare copper-silica mineral. Typically found in copper mines growing alongside similar minerals like malachite, chrysocolla, cuprite, or bornite, shattuckite can also form pseudomorphs with these minerals where it replaces them atom by atom without changing the crystalline structure.
Absolutely love it 😍 it is way bigger/heavier than I anticipated. I am so stoked to have such a great piece to add to my crystals!
