Calcite is a mineral that forms mostly in limestone deposits and caves, and can exhibit a wide range of colors depending on the impurities and trace elements it absorbs from the surrounding area. This variety of calcite contains bands of blue calcite and aragonite, and is named for its resemblance to a beach.
