OUR GEMSTONE GLOBE

Our stunning gemstone globes are impeccably designed and individually hand-crafted with more than 20 different semi-precious gemstones, including Lapis, Jade, Mother-of-Pearl, Amethyst, Picture Jasper, Unakite, Tiger's Eye, and many others. These gemstones of various nature and color are placed geographically on the globe representing the countries that they come from. The inlaid gemstones create a patchwork of contrasting color and texture in each globe. The shining, smooth globe is then finished with gold latitude and longitude lines.

This world globe requires, many individual steps to construct, and it takes more than 200 hours of skilled work to complete! This globe was made with the best quality gemstones but unlike other similar products this has an official ISO 9002 or ISO 9001 certification which is an international guarantee of quality.

It is a spectacular demonstration of craftsmanship which is painstakingly put together by hand, using at least 37 different semi-precious stones from all over the world! The latitude and longitude lines are very thin ribbons of polished brass, embedded through the globe. A brief description of some of the processes of the globe manufacture is outlined below:

* A gypsum mould is made in a perfect sphere to ensure that the globe is perfectly round.
* The exact outline of each country is set, since the stone must be cut according to the shape of each country and attached to the surface of the globe. The selection of the stones used for each country is based on where the stone can be found. For example: Japan uses Mother of Pearl, and USA uses Turquoise.
* Having finished the initial globe it now is beginning to resemble the finished product but for the ultimate protection it must be polished to be make it glisten.
* The final process is the coating when an expensive acrylic is applied.
At the bottom of the stand, a precise glass-topped integral brass compass is incorporated to complement the globe.

Any home would be instantly enhanced by this intricate example of craftsmanship and it will serve as a wonderful centerpiece to any room. The detail in each globe is astonishing and, because it is handmade, each product will be unique to that buyer. As an indication of the quality of the globe the list of stones normally used are listed below.

The globe must not be placed in direct sunlight or spotlights as this may lead to cracking of the acrylic coating.
