Trilobites inhabited the Earth during the Paleozoic era. They were arthropods (insects, spiders, and shellfish are all present day arthropods) who lived in the ocean. Their bodies are composed of an exoskeleton, and three main lobes (thus the "tri" prefix), the head (cephalon), the the body (thorax), and the tail (pygdium).
